MUTUAL AWAKENING

This project explores the fragile balance between breath, movement, and existence. A translucent butterfly, resting on my neck, is connected to me by a tube. As I breathe, air travels through the tube, inflating the air sacs beneath its wings, causing them to flutter. But is it my breath that sustains the butterfly, or is it the butterfly’s movement that keeps me alive?

By creating this cyclical exchange of breath, Breath of Wings questions the nature of dependence and agency. Is the butterfly an extension of my existence, or am I merely a vessel for its continued motion? The rhythmic rise and fall of its wings mirrors the fragility of life itself, blurring the boundaries between control and surrender, giver and receiver, self and other.
